NBA's Wembanyama, First Triple-Double After Playing 21 Minutes

Viktor Wembanyama, a "super rookie" of the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA), played for only about 21 minutes and made his first triple-double.

San Antonio won 130-108 against the Detroit Pistons in the 2023-2024 NBA regular season at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on the 11th.

Wembanyama contributed the most to San Antonio's victory. He played only 21 minutes and 2 seconds, but scored 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists to make a triple-double.

It is Wembanyama's first triple-double since his debut, who entered the NBA with the No. 1 overall pick in the rookie draft ahead of this season.

Wembanyama did not make any mistakes. It is the fourth time in history that a rookie has recorded a triple-double without any errors since the 1977-1978 season when he started counting errors, following Ben Simons, Andre Iguodala and David Robinson.

Among them, Wembanyama is the youngest when it comes to achieving the record. Born on January 4, 2004, Wembanyama achieved this at the age of 20 years and 6 days.

Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder was the only player who recorded a triple-double in 2014 even after playing less than Wembanyama. Westbrook previously recorded a triple-double by running only 20 minutes and 17 seconds.

Wembanyama is the second-ever rookie to achieve a triple-double in the history of the San Antonio club after David Robinson. He is also named the youngest triple-double winner in the club's history.

San Antonio won with Kelden Johnson 17 points, Devin Bassel 16 points, and Jeremy Sohan 15 points playing evenly while Wembanyama was powerful.

Detroit, where ace Cade Cunningham left due to a knee injury, drank a bitter cup of defeat despite the struggles of Jaylen Duran 21 points and 12 rebounds, Boyan Bogdanovic 19 points and Jaden Ivy 19 points.

Despite the victory, San Antonio remained at the bottom of the Western Conference with 6 wins and 30 losses. 안전놀이터
